eat all you can

Straits Kitchen @ Hyatt
Had a fantastic dinner with a few of my cousins at this really awesome restuarant at Hyatt Hotel. Admittedly kinda pricey for local food but sooo worth it, especially if you're hungry. Maybe go to the gym/skip lunch (like what my cousin Agnes did before dinner)..or just cave in, indulge and hope your body's digestive system is not working properly--as if.

Also the layout of the restaurant is very clean, sleek & trendy..a definite match for its famous cousin mezza9 upstairs! It's definitely a good place to savour hawker food in style.

Here's a review i found from the economist.com website:

'For a taste of local cooking, try the lively buffet restaurant in the Grand Hyatt hotel. This is Singapore's most elegant spot to sample local cuisine. Straits Kitchen serves everything from Malay specialities to Chinese dishes. Those in the know go first to the Malay stall for a few sticks of satay and a grilled stingray, then join the queue at the Chinese stall for a plate of Hainanese chicken-rice and an oyster omelette. The best desserts are at the Indian stall, which serves fluffy pancakes, creamy egg tarts and a bowl of bubur cha-cha, a delicious concoction of sweet potato, yam, tapioca jelly and coconut milk. Superb.'

I totally agree with the review! Plus MUST try the roti prata with curry..esp the one with egg & cheese! As good as Jalan Kayu's i dare say! (but then again i'm no prata expert). And of course, the dessert stall where you can get cold, sweet chendol & ice kachang was my favourite(the guy was VERY generous with his red beans!!yay.)

Look at the dessert spread! It's enough to kick my salivary glands into secretion! Haha.

The chicken rice stall..Their hainanese chicken rice is supposed to be pretty darn good!
The satay stall..haha we wiped out all the beef, mutton, chicken satays..And kept going back for more! poor uncle had to furiously fan more & more satays for all the greedy blokes. Fruits fruits fruits! Too bad i didn't have room in my stomach for healthy stuff. haha--the desserts were too good. My cousins..it was great fun cos they're all super funny! And i enjoyed the heartfelt moments where you guys talked about the wonderful memories at Lorong Chuan..=)
